Implementation of an Early Warning System for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
Ausvet developed a spatiotemporal risk assessment for EFSA to estimate the probability of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreaks in the wild bird population by spatiotemporal unit across Europe utilising data from project collaborators. After the successful implementation of a pilot model, a follow up project has been implemented to update the spatiotemporal risk assessment model in real time with new results on the latest HPAI outbreaks (H5 and H7) reported in wild birds in Europe. This ‘Bird Flu Radar’ is updated on a weekly basis based on the latest HPAI outbreaks reported in wild birds in Europe.
